We will be pulling down data explorer for a few hours tomorrow to replace the drives in the SQL server it runs on. We will be upgrading the SSDs from the 4x Intel 330 300GB in a RAID 10 currently to a new set of 4x Samsung EVO 1 TB in a new RAID 10. We’ll also be replacing some larger magnetic storage we use for the data dump at the same time.
Note: we don’t advise using these Samsung consumer drives for SQL Server workloads (they don’t handle things like power failure well). However, in this case almost all the data is either generated from another source relatively quickly or backed up very often.
